Antibiotic Guide for Non-pneumonic Chest Infections/Infective exacerbations of COPD (both community and hospital-acquired infections)

If failed recent course of doxycycline:

PO Co-amoxiclav 375mg tds and Amoxicillin 250mg tds for 5 days

If allergic to penicillins use: Levofloxacin PO 500mg once daily for 5 days

As Levofloxacin can increase selection for C.difficile infection and MRSA colonisation/infection, all patients with previous MRSA/C.difficile  require microbiology approval to use levofloxacin.
